This is something that really irks me. Why can't people grow up and realize we are in 2011 and things change? Why are some people so ignorant and think other people's lives have some sort of an effect on their own life?

Personally, I'm a fan of
Dancing With The Stars. I love watching it. I enjoy seeing how good and bad celebrities are at ballroom dancing and I enjoy the routines and costumes. It's fun.
What's not fun is people in our country saying they will boycott watching the show because Chaz Bono is a contestant. They're only reason is that it's because he used to be a girl; he's transgendered. People are
claiming that Chaz being on the show is taking away ABC's "family element" of the network and that they watch the show with their kids so how are they going to explain this to them.
Explain what? He looks like a guy, sounds like a guy, is legally a guy, and is paired up with a female dancer. You're kids, let alone you, won't know the difference. You wouldn't know he was born a girl if you walked past him on the street! The only reason you know anyway is because he has famous parents.

And to act like it is so wrong for him to be on the show, that it's confusing, and that it's "inappropriate" for kids just shows how ignorant
you are. Your kids won't be confused. You will be the one confusing them. All they are going to see is a guy dancing with a girl. But you, apparently, will feel compelled to have to have to explain that he was born a girl but wanted to be a boy, when that conversation won't even be necessary. All you will be doing is teaching your kids that you should not like people who aren't like you. Spreading hate is EXACTLY what you will be doing.
The ignorance of our country angers me. How does Chaz Bono's life, how he feels, and what he did to his body have
ANY effect on your life? It doesn't but you want to act like it does. He's a guy, bottom line. But because you know he had a sex change, all of a sudden it's wrong. So you think for him to dance on the show, ABC isn't family oriented anymore. How? Tell me how having him on the show doesn't make it okay for kids to watch anymore. He's just another person. No different from previous contestants. So his past is different, big deal. It's in his past. Everyone has a past. Kristie Alley (no disrespect, I was rooting for her from day 1) used to do drugs in her early acting days but there weren't any objections to her being on the show. And Kim Kardashian has a sex tape that people can buy, but no one said anything about her participation. It just goes to show how so many people are hypocrites.
It's 2011. Times change. People are people and should be treated like equals. They are no different from you. Actually they are. They are more accepting than many of you will ever be. I mean Chaz isn't even paying attention to what people are saying about him. He's just excited to be a part of the show and excited about losing some weight already from dancing. He knows who he is and what kind of person he is. And his mother - you may have heard of her, CHER - completely supports her son and will defend him 100%.
I fully intend on watching the entire season and I hope he makes it far. If he gets eliminated, it better be because he can't dance and not because a bunch of ignorant morons think he's tainted the network.
Like I said, he's a person just like you. You hate him because you
think he's different. But he's not.
GO CHAZ!
